Using VPN and Remote Desktop Connection
- Installing the VPN Client
STEPS TO DOWNLOAD, INSTALL AND RUN THE GLOBALPROTECT VPN WINDOWS CLIENT
Download the client that's appropriate for you.
2 .Enrolling in and Using Duo
Duo Two factor authentication is an extra layer of security for users accessing the VPN. IT will enroll you in Duo and then you should receive an email/text from Duo with instructions on how to complete your enrollment. It is recommended that you install the Duo Mobile App on your smartphone and you will need to have it handy to complete your authentication when logging into the VPN each time. Duo is also used for securing your access to Outlook webmail.
3. Logging into the VPN and Remote Desktop Connection
Logging into the GlobalProtect VPN
Open GlobalProtect from the task bar icon or by searching GlobalProtect in your Windows Search bar.

If this is the first time using GlobalProtect, you will need to enter the portal address, vpnc.sanpabloca.gov and subsequently enter your login name and password (the same one that you use to login to your computer and email). If this is not the first time, the portal address is already saved and you can hit Connect. After you hit Connect, you need to go to your Duo mobile app on your phone and authorize the login attempt.

Connecting to your work computer (via RDP)
Launch Remote Desktop Connection. You can find it by clicking on the start button and search for “Remote Desktop Connection”. Click the app when it appears in the search result.
2. IT staff will provide the computer name that you will connect to. Once in, you may need to click on the option (circled) to Show Options to get the full menu. Once you’ve got the options below, you will need to enter a computer name (IT will provide), and your username in the format below, sanpablo.local\username. Afterwards, click Connect and you will be prompted for your password. Please do not save your credentials, for security purposes, please enter a password each time you login.
3. MAC for RDP
Go to your Apple App Store and type and search for Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection 10 or click the link Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection10
Once the application is downloaded and installed begin by launching the application to configure. Guide below
The Computer name should be provided by the IT team.
Credentials will be username SanPablo\JimB and Password will be what you login to your pc at work.
